Brenntag and Evonik Expanding Cooperation in Europe

Effective October 1, 2009, Essen, Germany-based Evonik Industries announces the extension of its current cooperation with Brenntag GmbH, based in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, for distribution of the product groups VESTAMID®, TROGAMID®, VESTODUR®, and VESTAMELT®. The sales territory covers Western and Eastern Europe, with the exception of Italy and Scandinavia.

"This move is the result of our efforts to harmonise the European distribution landscape, a process that has stated in the fall of 2007. We’re convinced that this strategic decision to appoint a new distributor will release synergies that will allow us to strengthen our relationships with smaller customers further," said Dr. Joachim Leluschko, head of the High Performance Polymers Business Line, explaining the change.

For many years, Brenntag has been a distributor for Evonik Röhm’s PLEXIGLAS® molding compounds and a service provider for small-scale compounding of PLEXIGLAS® in Germany and Eastern Europe. In January 2009 this successful cooperation was extended to France. "our extended cooperation with Evonik is enormously important for us. It’ll allow us to enlarge our polymers portfolio considerably and thus to offer our customers innovative and individual product and compounding solutions in a more targeted manner. We are dedicated to building long-term partnerships and are happy to have Evonik at our side," said Steve Holland, Chief Operating Officer Brenntag Group.
