About us
The High Performance Polymers Business Line of Evonik Industries has its origins in the former Hüls AG. Together with the Acrylic Polymers and Acrylic Monomers Business Lines it forms the Performance Polymers Business Unit. High Performance Polymers specializes in the production of customized products, systems and semi-finished products made of high-performance polymers. With plants in Darmstadt (Germany), Witten (Germany), Lenzing (Austria), Magnolia (Arkansas, USA), Aboshi (Japan) and Changchun (China), the Marl-Germanbased Business Line has a workforce of almost 1000 members of staff.
For about 40 years, High Performance Polymers has been producing high-performance plastics based on polyamide 12, transparent polyamides and polybutylene terephthalate, not to mention polyamide 12 powder, copolyamide hot-melt adhesives, and a partially crystalline rubber. In addition, we also offer the world's most extensive range of technically available cyclic C8 and C12 synthetic products.
Since the beginning of 2006 we also enjoy global sales of polyether ether ketone, which is produced at JIDA Degussa High Performance Polymers Changchun Co. Ltd. in China, a company established as a joint venture in December 2005. With this high-temperature polymer, High Performance Polymers has expanded its product range of high-performance polymers designed to meet extreme mechanical, thermal and chemical requirements.
The Films & Foams (external link) Market Segment, part of the our business line since January 1, 2006, comprises highly specialized products and services generally offered to only one or a small number of customers. Polymethacrylimid (external link) and polyimid foams (external link), as well as sophisticated technical films (external link) and weather-resistant films, play an important role here. The segment also includes sheets and foams for the aerospoace industry (external link) as well as engineering plastics (external link) and fibers (external link).
Our core competence is the production of customized products, finely tuned to applications' specifications, for the
